Once again I find myself in a New city. Far from the forgotten messes in New York City and New Orleans. I arrive in New Mexico looking for an escape from those memories and those people that attempted to bring me down. I'm running, or so I've been told, from people that do not exist anymore; from memories and habits that controlled my life and made me a shell of who I once was. But I've reclaimed my identity. Israel Janeen Hawkins. I am the daughter of Maritza Hawkins and Jarin Hawkins. I am brilliant and I am more than just some plaything with an affinity for pills. I've reclaimed my destiny. Now if I can just find a place to settle, to create my life a new.
I've taken over the local pharmacy, I worked there for a few weeks before the owner announced he'd have to retire. Something about his wife being sick, I offered to take it. It gives me something to do honestly. Allows me to help people and help his family, I give him most of the profits. We're the only pharmacy in town so business is good. I've bought a house, a rustic safe haven just on the outskirts of town. Lots of land and a lack of neighbors; It's beyond perfect. I've kept the wood almost completely original except for one bedroom that had slight damage from what I could only guess was a fire. But the rest is lovely and I intend to remain here for as long as I can.
